...nipping, nipping, at your heels, that "Ole Slewfoot."

AI Overview

There is no single historical or documented person credited with first calling Satan "Old Slewfoot"; rather, it is an anonymous folk nickname that emerged from American regional folklore, particularly in the South and Appalachia.

Origins of the Term

  • Literal      Meaning: "Slew-foot" (or slue-foot) is an old descriptive      term for someone whose feet turn outward or who walks with a clumsy,      sliding, or shuffling gait.

  • Folklore      Association: In traditional folk demonology, the Devil was frequently      imagined as standing upright on awkward, turned-out cloven hooves, leading      to vernacular nicknames like "Old Slew Foot," "Old Split      Foot," or "Old Scratch".

  • Cultural      Cross-Pollination: The phrase was also widely used in Southern and      Appalachian oral tradition for legendary wild animals—most famously for      "Ole Slewfoot," a notorious, one-legged or crooked-tracked bear      hunted in the mountains of North Carolina. Over time, the moniker      overlapped heavily between rural folklore about dangerous beasts and      colloquial names for the Devil.

  • Modern      Popularity: The term was thrust back into popular culture by author Brom in his 2021 colonial horror novel Slewfoot,      which centers on a mythical forest spirit in 1666 Connecticut who is      branded "Slewfoot" and "devil" by local Puritans.

1 Corinthians 9:7 New Living Translation

7 What soldier has to pay his own expenses? What farmer plants a vineyard and doesn’t have the right to eat some of its fruit? What shepherd cares for a flock of sheep and isn’t allowed to drink some of the milk?

You know, I often talk about how the devil is always ‘nipping at your heels with one problem after another. In other papers I have explained how my income for the last six years or so has been strictly limited to my Social Security income. Well, for years I have been the only supporter of my four websites which I have been writing on for over twenty years.

You see, for some reason I don’t get financial support for my efforts of following the Lord, as other ministries do.

You see, every year, I have to pay for my four domain names, else I lose them along with all my efforts in the past twenty or so years to maintain them.

I also have two Email accounts connected to them which have recently been priced at a much higher cost than I have paid in the past.

Yesterday, I found out that I am now paying like two hundred dollars for each of them whereas in the past they might have cost me under sixty dollars, I believe.

Nonetheless, until this year I was always able to go to my “Manage,” my ‘Domains’ or ‘Emails,’ and I would pay the fees long before the expiration date. I never used the help of any assistant from “Go Daddy.”

Well, somehow an Email product came up for renewal which surprised me as I thought they were all paid up through the year.

Nonetheless, when I went to draw out twenty dollars to do get my haircut the other day, I saw that my account was in “overdraft” of seventy something dollars, as there was a charge of 115.00 from “Go Daddy.”

Well, on my sites I am often faced with an order form of some product which self generates and is then totaled at the bottom for a hundred or two hundred dollars,  so normally, I just close them with a click of the corner ‘X.’

So, when I see this charge of 115 dollars, I was angry because I thought that it was one of those self-generating order forms that had accidently been clicked to fulfill?

So, here I am coming back from the ATM where my laundry money had been lifted from, I call the bank and I told them that I had not authorized anyone to use my ATM card for any purchase.

The agent was very understanding, and she refunded my account the 115 dollars.

Next, I call “Go Daddy,” and asked what they charged my account for?

The clerk then informs me that the charge was for a year's extension of my Email account, John@thehandofthelord.org.

So, after realizing that the expiration day was for 8-25-26, on my email account, I told her, that in that case, I needed to renew it, but not with my ATM card as I didn’t have the proper funds for that card.

Well, I was not on my Go Daddy site, where my products are before me, as they seemed to have complicated the maneuvering of their web site. Nonetheless, as she is trying to sell me this product and that product, I was getting upset, so finally I told her, “Look I need you to navigate my way through your site, so I can look on the page and to see my products where in the past I have managed them.

You see, I had another Email essentials which she claimed needed to be renewed today, as well. The expiration date for the product was in November, however.

She claimed nonetheless that it was imperative that I renew them together today.

Meanwhile the woman is continually talking about extra security and added features and projects and such, but she is not giving me any costs as a total or anything.

Nevertheless, she kept asking me,” Do you authorize this payment, I need you to authorize the payments, so I can charge you that they can be renewed.”

Finally, she comes up with a financial quote of something like sixty or seventy dollars and she then asks, “Do you authorize this payment which authorizes your renewal of a year on either one or two emails or something to that effect.

Then I had a thought, so I go to my ‘PayPal Mastercard’ web site.

On the site this was what I saw:

Meanwhile, I was trying to get to where I could see what the hell the woman was doing in terms of costs for each product and what the heck the product was that she was wishing to charge me for?

Well, when I saw all these charges I said to her these charges are fraudulent, I need to speak to a supervisor. None came to help the situation but just directed her in her crimes. Next, I told her that you are going to be the one who goes to jail, not your supervisors.

Well, then that sparked some conversation where they were looking for a solution. She then places me on hold does something and comes up with a suggestion from her supervisors. Before that, however, I was asking her what are these charges for and she only could give me an explanation of two extended Email extensions.

She explained one was for the renewal of the first Email, and the other was for the renewal of the second Email, yet she had no explanation for the third charge, so I demanded that the third one needed to be taken off immediately.

Well, in the next hour or so, I am bargaining with some “supervisors,” who then relay their messages to her as she keeps coming back to the phone without giving me the benefit to speak to any supervisor although I must have asked at least five or ten times.

I believe the call was now going into the third hour and at one point, they suggested, as requested by her that they would refund one hundred and forty dollars, so long as I made another purchase of a thirty-nine-dollar yearly extension of a subscription.

Well, thinking the entire thing out I thought that somehow miraculously I had the overall charges down to the original 115.00 which they first charged to my ATM card. Later I realized that I hadn’t because they had wheedled another thirty-nine dollar charge out of me to be refunded 140 dollars.

Nevertheless, I finally went to bed and tonight I looked on my bank statement, as I was going to go back to the ATM and pull out a twenty, so I could get a haircut tomorrow morning.

Nonetheless, the women yesterday didn’t charge the PayPal Credit Card for the thirty-eight-dollar charge, instead she charged my PayPal account.

So, because of Go Daddy, once again making mistake after mistake and making their company look like a couple of streets “THUGS,” hanging on a street corner shooting craps, my bank had an overdraft again of a dollar or two which I had to make a transfer of funds from my savings.

I once again called the idiots and was greeted by a woman who actually seemed ‘nice,” and who transferred my charge from my PayPal account to my PayPal credit card.

Nonetheless, my “haircut” money is tied up in limbo somewhere and should arrive back into my account within five to seven days, I have been told.

Thank you, you bumbling fools!

I commend you for your consistent “Customer Service Training” techniques, I am sure they must be the finest in the business.

So, should I expect some repercussions from the “Posting,” of this anecdote?

It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if you were to do that.

So, anyway this is what my bank statement says today.

Lastly, I would like to know where these people got the authorizations to charge my credit cards, as well as my PayPal account.

You see, I don’t recall a paper in which I signed or a Carte Blanche to go through my wallet and to charge card after card as well, as my PayPal account?

Though I have made purchases in the last twenty years, perhaps of all those bank accounts, did that automatically give you permission to use any one at your convenience.

Also, I repeatedly, ask this woman yesterday to take my authorization from every account, any PayPal accounts and the pennies that I keep in my front pocket.

Well, apparently, she did not comply with my request.

Lastly, I was just minding my own business, what or who in the hell gave your company the right to upset or upturn my entire life for a couple of two days and why did I not receive the customary alert or notice that my account was about to expire?

In twenty years, I have never been late with a payment, but thanks for the extra special care that you give to your loyal and steadfast customers.

Follow up to paper written yesterday:

You know, I really should…I should let these companies know that my other job is “Taking down GIANTS, with five little pebbles before I contract with them." I feel that it would spare many of them some ill feelings which might "pop up," in our business relationships.

Nonetheless, the more that I have thought about how this company treated me the more upset that I get. For the last five years or so, it usually cost me much less than sixty dollars to renew my years subscription concerning the Email Essentials for each Email.

Nonetheless, I spent over three hours the other night contacting my Wells Fargo, as well, as this company which had turned a simple request to renew an Email for a year into four or five charges resulting in something close to three hundred dollars. And only then after arguing with some Supervisors who were afraid to come to the phone did I finally speak some sanity into this company sales girl who was deviously entrapping me to falsely authorize charge after charge which to this day I don’t even have a clue as to what they were all for.

Finally, after a couple of hours these individuals agreed to refund me one hundred and forty dollars, so long as they could add an additional charge of thirty nine dollars to the two hundred and twenty that they had already charged and was authorized through my credit company.

And then today I awake to find out that no one has corresponded nor does it appear that they care too in any capacity.

Well, I am not retracting my expose which I posted last night until I get someone from the company to apologize for the treatment that I received and to make sense to me of the charges which were charged to my three various credit accounts or bank statements.

Lastly, I would like to inform them that for the last eigh. t or nine years I have actively been interacting with the various “Front end,” employees, (Meaning the hosts of many of those conservative talk shows, as well as their guests.”

So, what I am trying to inform you is that for the last number of years, my columns or web sites have also been read by many Congressmen, Senators, News Media, a few diplomats, much of one of our Presidents immediate family members, perhaps the President himself, and hundreds of preachers and church leaders, as well, as many in their congregations.

Therefore, I am demanding that you publicly allow my two to three hour conversation with your sales team to be released to the public, or that I receive an apology for the manner in which I was treated and if you wish to ignore me, then I will just allow my expose of your sales tactics remain public on my web site.

Thank you and God bless you, I pray that you have the decency to do what is right, so that I will know that you will not be practicing any more deceit upon the naïve public who are wondering if you are a good company to represent their media platforms.
