Hebrews 12:1   New Living Translation

12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.

These are results for question, "Does the church consider George Whitefield's amazing voice to be part of a supernatural gift from God?"

AI Overview

Yes, many evangelical Christians and various church traditions consider George Whitefield's powerful voice and extraordinary oratorical abilities to be a "God-given" gift or a supernatural endowment of the Holy Spirit.

While the Anglican Church, to which he was ordained, did not have an official dogma specifically on his voice, the broader "church" (particularly evangelical and revivalist traditions) views his abilities as divinely appointed for the work of the Great Awakening.

Key Perspectives

A "Trumpet Voice": Whitefield's voice was famously resonant and clear, often described as a "trumpet" that could be heard by tens of thousands of people in open fields without any amplification. Benjamin Franklin's measurements in Philadelphia suggested his voice could reach over 30,000 people. This immense natural capacity is widely seen as a specific,

providential gift from God, uniquely suited for his outdoor, mass evangelism.

Natural Abilities "Taken Captive" for Christ: Many theologians and historians today emphasize that his natural talents, including his dramatic flair and powerful voice, were not "supernatural" in the sense of being a miraculous power he did not naturally possess.

Instead, they were natural gifts that were sanctified, empowered, and used by the Holy Spirit for God's glory and the salvation of sinners.

Empowerment of the Holy Spirit: Whitefield himself, and his followers, often spoke of preaching "with much power" or "life and light and power from above," attributing the effectiveness and impact of his preaching (which included his voice) to the anointing of the Holy Spirit, rather than just his natural charisma.

A Catalyst for Awakening: His voice was more than a physical attribute; it was an instrument for spiritual transformation. Contemporary accounts frequently mention how his voice, combined with his passionate delivery and focus on the "new birth" message, moved vast audiences to tears and repentance.

In essence, the prevailing Christian view is that God providentially equipped George Whitefield with exceptional vocal and oratorical gifts and empowered them supernaturally to spearhead the Great Awakening.

Can I be honest with you?

Ever since I became a Christian I have always questioned everything that is spoken about in the church. It is not that I ama doubting Thomas, but when I stand before Jesus on that day, I don't want to have to tell him, 'Well, golly gee Lord, it all looked as if it came from you and was sanctified as "Holy."

No, I want to tell him Lord, I trusted no man, but I tested everything to make sure that it was from you. Therefore, I am not caught up in ERROR, or unbelief.

Well, I found Brother Hagin to be a very real "man of God," full of integrity, so I seldom had reason to question his spoken teachings or word. Nevertheless, we are all only human, so at the time when "the Berlin wall," fell and I had heard some of these prophecies, I said to myself.

"Gee, brother Hagin must have missed it when he was speaking of the very end times, because Communism is dead, and who in the world would ever want to resurrect it."

Nonetheless, God's word always proves true and all that you have to do is to look at America and where we are headed.

Could any one of you ever imagine that our country would be in the state that we are in today?

Could you ever imagine that our own brothers and sisters in America would be pushing Socialism and Communism?

No, not in a million years, yet these ARE the LAST DAYS, open your eyes and wake up.

Following is a Prophecy from Brother Hagin taken from the early sixties.

The passages where Moses felt inadequate and asked for help are primarily in Exodus 3-4, where he objects to leading the Israelites out of Egypt due to his speech impediment, leading God to provide his brother Aaron as his spokesperson, and in Exodus 18, where his father-in-law Jethro tells him he's taking on too much and can't do it alone, suggesting he appoint other leaders to share the burden.

Exodus 3-4 (Speech & Inadequacy)

Moses' Objection: In Exodus 4:10, Moses tells God, "Please, Lord, I have never been eloquent, neither now nor in the past, nor since you have spoken to your servant, but I am slow of speech and tongue".

God's Solution: God gets angry but then provides Aaron, saying, "Is not Aaron the Levite your brother? I know he can speak well... You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth" (Exodus 4:14-15).
