Psalm 119:72 NASB
72 The Law of Your mouth is better to me
Than thousands of gold and silver pieces.
AI Overview from Google:
The Word of God states that His words are more desirable than "much fine gold" in Psalm 19:10. Some translations, such as the Message Bible (MSG), specifically phrase this as "better than a diamond". Similar sentiments regarding the immense value of God's law over riches are found in Psalm 119:72 and 119:127.
Key Scriptures on the Value of God's Word:
Psalm 19:10 (KJV): "More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb".
Psalm 19:10 (MSG): "God's Word is better than a diamond, better than a diamond set between emeralds...".
Psalm 119:72 (ESV): "The law of your mouth is better to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces".
Psalm 119:127 (ESV): "Therefore I love your commandments above gold, above fine gold".
These passages emphasize that Scripture is more valuable than physical wealth and brings greater satisfaction.
Earlier tonight I laid down and had a few hours sleep waking up at ten thirty. Nevertheless, as I awoke I just knew that God was asking me to trust him and to throw my Prescription Sleep Medications down the toilet, as I had done some fifty years ago, when I was heavily addicted to Valium and other drugs.
You see, I realized that it would be hypocritical for me to continue taking these when I know in my heart that God had been offering me His Grace to accomplish the task, once again.
So, what I am saying is that just because I am doing this nobody should "feel condemned," if you can't do this similarly with a pill or any other addiction in which you might have.
Let God take you to a place where "in His confidence" you are sure that he is by your side and will pull you out of any later struggles that you may have.
Otherwise, if you continue to try this and keep failing then it perhaps could cause you to lose the "Faith," needed to keep your self free.
Nonetheless, one of the most powerful tools that we as Christians possess is "Obedience to him."
The Bible plainly says that, "Obedience is better than sacrifice."
Well, what kind of a God would bring you to a place where he asks you to do something and then would fail to give you the "Grace," to accomplish the task?
Not a very just God.
The Bible also says, that "Without Faith it is impossible to please God," therefore if God has asked you to do something and you steadfastly refuse to do it, then you are in disobedience, and of little value to "the Kingdom of God."
So, I would like to ask the Church to Pray for me for three things.
Number One: That God can restore to me the ability to physically "Fast," as I have aged and been attacked with a number of illnesses which have caused me to lose that ability.
Number Two: Please pray that my mind can slow down to once again have the ability to read again. I used to be a voracious reader, yet have somehow lost that ability.
And thirdly, please pray that my body will heal and once again fall into regular sleep cycles.
I swear it is like "Hell on Earth" when you have to sit up days wide awake and yet, your mind won't even allow you to get lost in a book or in studying the "Word of God," especially.
I thank God that we have the resources to listen to the Bible audibly, but there is so much more wealth when we can lose our selves in the "written word of God."
Thank you and God bless the "Body of Jesus Christ" on Earth.
