Best Sunday Sermon for 11-30-2025

Philippians 3:8-9    The Message

7-9 The very credentials these people are waving around as something special, I’m tearing up and throwing out with the trash—along with everything else I used to take credit for. And why? Because of Christ. Yes, all the things I once thought were so important are gone from my life. Compared to the high privilege of knowing Christ Jesus as my Master, firsthand, everything I once thought I had going for me is insignificant—dog dung. I’ve dumped it all in the trash so that I could embrace Christ and be embraced by him. I didn’t want some petty, inferior brand of righteousness that comes from keeping a list of rules when I could get the robust kind that comes from trusting Christ—God’s righteousness.

Well, it's that time again, yep, another opportunity to display and award the prize for the Best Sunday Sermon for the last week of November.

This week, as many others is a little unusual. You see, although technically it is still Saturday night here in the United States, over in Australia it is already the last day of November, Sunday. Therefore, that makes them eligible for the Best Sunday Sermon award which I am giving it out early tonight which is Saturday by American standards.

No, I am not even going to wait until any others are considered because I am giving this one "special consideration."

Could I tell you why I am going to award it to the first Sermon that I have heard as representative of my Board Members, as well?

Well, it is because I have been getting sick and tired of seeming to be the only "Man of God," in ministry who has had to go through my "Biennial, "Colonoscopies," every two years.

I mean, the embarrassment from the time that you enter the hospital until you are greeted from nurses after the fact is just too much.

Nevertheless, I understand that all men ought to be reminded of them, as these are important demands in life, for men.

You know, when I was a kid every night on the ten O clock news, they would ask their audiences, "Do you know where your children are tonight?"

Well, I got to thinking and I believe that it would be good for the "Laity," to remember to ask your 'leaders,' "Have you had your "colonoscopy," in the last two years?"

"Let's begin tomorrow morning, what do ya say?"

I am telling ya, I get tired of it all. Nonetheless, because of the many issues in the church which can be so conveniently "hidden under the rugs," you would think that I was the only one who had ever received one.

No doubt, there are many, many, many more, besides a good cleansing always does me good, perhaps, once they clean out that "old leaven," for lack of a different "name," perhaps they will feel as good as I do afterward?

Well, I don't think that I am alone, nevertheless, I know that there are many who need one for health sakes, as well.

So anyway, without further ado, could I present the "Best Sunday Sermon," for November thirtieth, twenty twenty five:

You know, perhaps I jumped to a few conclusions yesterday by choosing an early candidate for Best Sunday Sermon, I had no idea that I would offend so many Pastors or leaders, when all that I was trying to do was to subtly slip in a public health warning for their benefit. I am sure that you recall when the master stated, "To be wise as serpents but harmless as doves," right?

Well, I was in one church worshiping Jesus and I kept thinking how that a few people had probably moved myself down a notch in their perception of me. You know, some people love to place you on the level of television programming of "Sainthood," and that way, as soon as you fall from "Grace," they can report to their congregations how hypocritical and evil that you have become.

So, as I was in deep and holy worship where I was even feeling the presence of the Lord, I was telling him, "Lord, they don't understand Holiness at all,"

"If they are looking for that "attribute, coming from me, then they have so much to learn."

"Jesus, without you there is nothing in me that is good or Holy, any level of goodness or Holiness that I may have, has only come from you and resides in me because you reside in me."

"If there is any expectation of me attaining what level they expect of me to walk in, then it is only because you are living in me, from when I chose to ask you to come and live in my life."

But you see, most men haven't figured that out yet, they believe that the "Holiness," which they have fought for and think that they have achieved by their "good works," allows them to take that and to judge other men.

It is really quite sad, but true.

You see, they can't wait for their opponent (other brothers and sisters in Christ who they are competing with) to fall. Then they can exploit the fact in uplifting themselves, lest they will lose their perceived 'Holiness,' which they believe men think of them?

Does that make sense.

In other words, they love to measure "Holiness," by their conceived notion of it, so when others are struggling or falling into "sin," or perhaps write something controversial, then they can point the finger and accuse.

"Well, look at me, I am walking in such a greater measure of that worthless hypocrite and filthy sinner."

"Can I tell you of my many works."

"Why with my father's help we have raised millions and millions of dollars and have done great things......Oh, and the little people have helped by the billion or so dollars we have collected from them over the years."

Nevertheless, were not like that "scum" joking on a Sunday morning asking you to ask your leaders, "If they need a colonoscopy?"

So, anyway I was in deep worship talking with God and all of a sudden my screen goes blank and I get a message saying, 'You are not authorized to view content, as it is restricted."

Well, it has only happened a few other times like when I have felt the wrath of a particular Pastor.

Apparently, I fell below the man's expectation of "perfection," that he demands of almost every believer.

Well, other than family members who bring in millions of dollars from 'Preaching the gospel' around the world.

Nevertheless, others though have a "holiness standard" that they must uphold set up by the man.

I mean, it is HIS church, so shouldn't he have the right to restrict the very worse and vile sinners from repenting before God in HIS buildings?

Nevertheless, I am going to retract my Award for Best Sunday Sermon from Pastor Russel Evans, for his 'off the cuff,' remarks concerning his colonoscopy, and instead I am going to award it to a guest Canadian Pastor this week from Times Square Church who re-preached a sermon from Carter Conlon from last year, I believe.

Apparently, the church isn't ready for 'colonoscopy' jokes on Sunday morning or incorporated in a sermon.

Actually, I had to seal the vote in lest I wouldn't be eating Thanksgiving with the family this year. You know, my two Aunties and Uncle Buck can be pretty persuasive.

You see, one of my favorite Vicars from England also delivered a very powerful sermon entitled, "What is the Truth," or something like that?
